What do you do right after you’ve scarfed down a fatty meal at your local diner? Take a nap? Exercise? Umm… go for dessert of course!
I’m not kidding. After a friend and I had a hearty lunch, she mischievously leaned over to me and asked if I wanted to go for cake. I thought she was kidding. Little did she know I was actually thinking we should work off the exorbitant amount of calories we just consumed by jogging up and down Yonge Street.
But since my friend was pretty determined in checking out this hot spot in Leslieville, I gave in and we hopped on a streetcar and made our way eastbound to Bobbette and Belle.
Bobbette and Belle is a chic bakeshop located in Toronto’s east end. They specialize in creating decadent cakes (including wedding cakes), picture perfect pies, adorable macarons, and cute cupcakes.
It was sensory overload for my friend and I. Our heads spun as we took at least 20 pics each of the quaint café and the yummy desserts.
Ten minutes went by and we finally chose a dessert – believe me, it was no easy feat trying to select one, but we decided to order a slice of the enormous chocolate cake.
Oh, it’s not your average chocolate cake. This cake was phenomenal! (click on the pic above for the full effect!) It was layers of chocolate cake, luscious ganache, and topped off with a small brownie. My friend and I thought it would be better to share it because even we have our limits!
The verdict – it was rich, chocolaty and lip-smacking good – everything we wanted it to be.
Would I go back? Absolutely!
If you’re looking for a new spot to satisfy your sweet tooth, check out Bobbette and Belle.
