November has been creativity overload for me. I was fortunate enough to attend two fantastic events that allowed me to connect with writers, authors and bloggers. Here’s a bit about what they were about.
Black Bloggers United Power Hour, November 19, 2016
Although this event took place on a cold, windy, rainy Saturday afternoon, nothing was going to stop me from attending. The chance to talk with other bloggers and speak about the writing process – priceless.
The Toronto chapter of the Black Bloggers United group (headed by Nicole from Black Leopard PR) hosted the meet up and it couldn’t have been more enjoyable. I met and had enlightening convos with a great bunch of content creators, and even met a fellow blogger that I plan on interviewing for my next blog entry!
We spoke about the highs and lows of being a writer and hustling to get your work out there.
Let’s just say, I could’ve stayed all day long. Had a great time.
Author’s Coffee Meet Up, November 24, 2016
I attended the Author’s Coffee meet up last week which was hosted by Sheena Blake from Discovering Diversity Publishing. At first I wasn’t sure if I should attend because I haven’t published a book yet (yep, I said YET! Got plans in the works!), but I decided to go because it’s good to learn, and grow from others’ experiences.
Made great connections, and even came up with an idea for my blog. Psssst….I plan on creating a “Writers series” where I review books from authors from #the6 and abroad.
I wanted to thank both organizers for creating a fun space where we could network, connect and enjoy a conversation about the art of writing.
